Frozen Treats

It’s summer, well sort of. We have to endure a few weeks of rain in order to enjoy the sunny warm weather in all its glory. To help prepare, here is a quick round-up of some awesome places to enjoy some frozen summer treats while basking in the sun.

Made With Love (and Liquor)

Eat and Drink.

They were made to go together. Just as chefs get together to push the boundaries of their trade, so do bartenders. This year is the second year of the Made With Love competition in Calgary, a demonstration of the skills and knowledge it takes to fill the other half of the dining equation. I sit in at this year’s qualifiers to see what we’re in store for this summer.

Nothing is better than a good manhattan

A Matter of National Indulgence

Poutine, it’s our national dish. We like it wet, dirty and brown; with hunks of meat or just with strings of cheese which stretch for what seems, impossible lengths. We can’t get enough of this stuff, and here’s a quick look at a few places to get it.

Market on 17th

I had the honour of going to Market’s media night before their first day of service and I can tell you it was a riot. Great spot, great people. Love it. Here’s a few pictures to top it off:

Squiriting Fire – The Hottest Curry in the World

Last week I had the dubious honour of trying the hottest curry in the world, phall curry. Glory of India was nice enough to make it for us and although it was mind searingly spicy, it did have some of the elements of a proper curry. As expected, the next morning wasn’t pleasant.

It looks like a hot curry…
